ULT-R68e Robotic Underground Core Drilling Rig – Ultonotec
Overview:
Newland, in collaboration with our joint venture company Ultonotec, was tasked with the manufacture, assembly, and testing of the ULT-R68e Robotic Underground Core Drilling Rig. This project was commissioned by our client, who required a fully electric, automated drill rig for underground exploration.
Challenge:
The client needed an advanced drilling solution that could operate efficiently in the demanding conditions of underground exploration. The drill rig needed to be fully electric to comply with environmental standards, automated for enhanced operational efficiency, and robust enough to withstand harsh underground environments. The challenge was to design and deliver a cutting-edge rig that met all these criteria within a stringent timeline.
Solutions:
- Engineering Design: Titeline Underground originally invented the Robotic Drill Rig machine. Ultonotec, our joint venture partner, took on the role of commercialising the equipment. Newland provided the essential service to tweak the design to meet the end user client’s requirements. Leveraging our expertise in drilling equipment, our team refined the original design by incorporating the electric powertrain which was engineered to deliver optimal performance while minimising environmental impact.
- Manufacture and Assembly: Utilizing our manufacturing facilities, we produced the components of the ULT-R68e with exacting precision. Our assembly team, in conjunction with Ultonotec’s and Titeline’s experts, meticulously put together the rig, integrating sophisticated control systems and ensuring seamless operation of all automated features.
- Testing and Validation: The ULT-R68e underwent rigorous testing to validate its performance and reliability. We simulated various underground conditions to ensure the rig could handle the demands of exploration drilling. Comprehensive tests confirmed the rig’s operational efficiency, safety, and compliance with environmental standards.
